The Rocking Horse Shop of Maine

Having carved hunting decoys for over thirty years, my grandson is responsible for this new endeavor.  I decided to make him a fully carved rocking horse in the classic Victorian style.  Just in case the first one looked too much like a duck, I made two.  Well, they both turned out just fine and I really enjoyed making them.

These “heirloom quality” horses are carefully created using the finest of kiln dried poplar, basswood and ash.  They are then fitted with real horse hair manes and tails.  Finally they receive their imported English bridles and saddles.

Traditionally these horses are painted in the “dapple grey” pattern (as shown) but I can produce most any pattern on a custom basis.

The lively, yet gentle faces of these horses endear themselves to young and old alike and soon they are on their way to becoming a beloved family heirloom.

Payment Terms

A deposit of 50% secures your order in the work schedule.  The balance is due two weeks prior to delivery.  We accept Visa and Mastercard.

Delivery

Delivery is free in New England and on an actual cost basis elsewhere.
